Saddle fitting.

I am a Whangarei based independent saddle fitter. Regardless of what brand your saddle is, I am happy to advise on the fit and can adjust it to fit better when possible. If you are in the market for a new or secondhand saddle I can also help with that, taking into account your budget and specific requirements. I understand how difficult saddle fitting can be when tackling it on your own, so I help take the guess work out of it for you.

I make it a priority to help every horse and rider feel amazing in their saddle, so that they can have a happy and effective partnership in whatever their chosen discipline

I work with closely with select retailers so that I am able have new stock/ trial models on hand at your fitting for you to test ride. The brands include NSC, Adam Ellis, Farrington, Amerigo Vega, Fairfax, Kent and Masters, Thorowgood and a couple of other exciting brands are in the pipeline. These are quality saddles which cover a wide range of fits (for horse and rider) and come in at different price points.

During a saddle fitting appointment (which can take from 1-2 hours), I will note down your horse's details and get an idea of your situation, assess your horse's conformation in relation to saddle fit, check your saddle statically and then in motion when you ride. If any flocking or shim adjustments (and gullet alterations if possible) are needed, I will do it onsite then see you ride again to make sure the saddle is fitting perfectly. I will explain what I am doing during the process, so you will have a good understanding of what and why I am doing things. 

After your saddle fitting appointment I am only a message or phone call away to answer any questions, and I send out a reminder for when your saddle is due for a recheck.

**PLEASE NOTE that fitting appointments at your grazing/chosen venue are only available on weekdays.

Saddle fit for a new client or new horse, or to test ride saddles:

$190 incl. GST per horse which covers up to 120 minutes of my time. Flock used for re balancing is $0.50 cents incl. GST per gram. If you are out of the immediate Whangarei area or you require a specific appointment slot that involves a special call out, there may be a travel charge depending on the distance (you will be notified at time of booking). 

A deposit is required when booking- 50% of the saddle fitting fee and full travel charge.

6-12 month follow up saddle fit:

​$170 incl. GST per horse which covers up to 90 minutes of my time. Flock used for re balancing is $0.50 cents incl. GST per gram. If you are out of the immediate Whangarei area or you require a specific appointment slot that involves a special call out, there may be a travel charge depending on the distance (you will be notified at time of booking).

A deposit is required when booking- 50% of the saddle fitting fee and full travel charge.

0-2 month follow up saddle fit:

​$140 incl. GST per horse which covers up to 60 minutes of my time. This is applicable in the instance where you purchase a saddle from another source after having an initial saddle fitting, where the current saddle was deemed unsuitable or saddle recommendations were sought. Flock used for re balancing is $0.50 cents incl. GST per gram. If you are out of the immediate Whangarei area or you require a specific appointment slot that involves a special call out, there may be a travel charge depending on the distance (you will be notified at time of booking).  

A deposit is required when booking- 50% of the saddle fitting fee and full travel charge.

CANCELLATION POLICY. 

If you cancel more than 5 working days ahead of your appointment, your deposit will be refunded or if postponing it can be put towards a new appointment date.

If you cancel your appointment from 3-5 WORKING days prior to the date of your appointment and your space is unable to be filled, you will be refunded your deposit (or it can be put towards another appointment date if you are postponing) minus the travel charge component.

If you cancel your appointment within 3 WORKING days prior to the date of your appointment and your space is unable to be filled, the full deposit will be retained.

If you fail to show up to your appointment, the deposit will be retained and you will be invoiced for the remaining 50% of the saddle fitting fee.

Equissage.

I offer Equissage along side saddle fitting, so if you would like to treat your horse to a relaxing session please let me know when booking your saddle fit. Equissage helps improve mobility, healing, and ease any joint/ muscular pains.

Charge:

$60 incl. GST per horse which covers a 30 minute session. 

Leather repairs and Custom made bridles.

I have all your saddlery and leather repairs covered, I stitch by hand which makes the repair neat and strong. I offer competitive rates and Whangarei based pick up/ drop off points, so there is no need to courier down the island.

Plain snaffle bridles or padded and shaped bridles are hand stitched and made from premium quality vegetable tanned bridle leather. When possible, I like to customize the bridle to an individual horse as it is common to find that 'one size fits all' is not always the case.

I am also able to make up component’s for an existing bridle.
